Santiago is a stylish city and very much the center of the world as far as Chileans are concerned. For nightlife, eating out or other activities this is the place to be. The best place to experience these things is the Bellavista neighbourhood.
For a good view of the city it is a good idea to take the funicular to Cerro San Cristobal.Santiago offers some great possibilities for daytrips as well. Valparaiso is not far away, the mountains have great hiking opportunities, the ocean is nearby.
